This Week's Sign That Jesus is Coming Back Soon
Joel Osteen now has a board game.
I first noticed this story on Russell Moore's blog. But, its definitely worth re-hashing since Dr. Moore was more then kind.
Listen to this heretical game description:
The game is, "an entertaining and educational way to take inventory of yourself and accountability of your actions. Climb the mountain as you
• Enlarge Your Vision
• Develop a Healthy Self Image
• Discover the Power of your Thoughts and Words
• Let Go of the Past
• Find Strength Through Adversity
• Live To Give
And • Choose to Be Happy
Each new plateau represents a challenge and a chance to open up and experience these steps first hand as you learn to live Your Best Life Now."I really don't know what to say about this other then, "WHAT?!" Only a few of these 'goals' are even close to being biblical. But even then, I'm sure its all about what we've done, as opposed to what Jesus has done for us. How is Christianity, the fact that God sent his Son, the Lord Jesus Christ, to die for our sins, that we are redeemed by the power of his blood shed on the cross - a game? It's not...it's real life and it's not to be marketed.
Hounds? Release...

I do not know much about Osteen, but that is a bit mad.
It sure beats the pants off of Chinese Checkers.
Andrew,
I was thinking...maybe a video game? Better yet, I'll beat him to it. I'll call it, "Sim Church." The game will start off with you accepting a call after preaching your trial sermon. Then throuhgout your pastorate, you'll have to deal with unruly church members, unsaved deacons, personnel committee meetings, and if you get 'good' enough, 1st Baptist MegaChurch will call you up to be their pastor!
Matthew,
"Mad" as in "crazy?" I agree.
Nathan,
Yes it does...but not sure if beats Scattegories.
Dr. Reid,
Great analogy that is so sadly true.
Dr. Moore preached in chapel today at SEBTS. Definitely make it a point to download his message, Charlie. It was fantastic.
On the way out the door I shook his hand and mentioned how much I enjoyed his commentary on the Osteen game, which gave him a big smile as he confessed that at first reading he thought it was a joke!
Haha...Dr. Moore is the next Al Mohler with better humor.
I agree. It will be interesting to see if in 20 years or so he or Dr. Schemm will be candidates for seminary presidencies.
Oh, I think they will both be so.
By the way, Dr. Moore's impression of Dr. Akin is hilarious and right-on.
